Penalties for conviction of a sex crime

Conviction of a sex crime carries significant penalties. In addition to prison time, you may face lifelong registration as a sex offender. Equally important to know is that your career, your family and your reputation will be affected if you are convicted of a felony sex crime. It is important to consult with a skilled criminal defense attorney who can seek the best possible outcome for you if you are facing sex crime charges.

Defending against all types of sex crime charges

Anyone can be charged with a sex crime. Past clients have included college students, professionals, and even people going through acrimonious divorce proceedings. We have successfully defended people with mental illness, securing them treatment in lieu of prison time. Our cases include all types of sex crimes, including:

  • Lewd conduct
  • Indecent exposure
  • Solicitation for prostitution
  • Sexual abuse
  • Sexual assault
  • Sodomy
  • Rape and date rape
  • Statutory rape
  • Child molestation
  • Possession of child pornography
  • Solicitation
  • Failure to register as a sex offender

How we handle your case

We vigorously defend these cases. However, when the law and the evidence clearly indicate that a jury trial will result in a verdict of guilty, we then work very hard to achieve a negotiated settlement with the goal of having the charges against you either dismissed or reduced to charges which are not sexual in nature and do not result in penalties assessed to sexual offenders, such as the mandatory inclusion of all persons convicted of a sexual offense on the sex offender registry.

In addition, we seek treatment and therapy on behalf of clients, making sure they get the necessary counseling and mental health care. We use their successful completion of mental health programs as part of their case. We have a record of developing plea proposals that benefit our clients and satisfy the criminal justice system.

If you have been charged with a sex crime, it is crucial to have a lawyer with experience. In addition to many years of experience, our lawyer accepts a limited number of cases each year, allowing him to spend the time needed to explore every option and investigate each case thoroughly.
